How does a Bixpy motor work?

The Bixpy Jet Motor uses an electric-powered motor with a propeller to displace the water and thrust your kayak, SUP, or boat forward. It runs on a portable battery that sits on the back of your kayak. The battery attaches to the Bixpy K-1 Powerthruster to power the motor. There are a variety of attachments and adapters that can attach to several types of kayaks. There are ways to mount it on kayaks, SUPs, inflatable boats, and more.

How much thrust does a Bixpy have?

The new Bixpy K-1 motor provides a thrust of 33 lbs. This is plenty of power to adequately motorize kayaks, paddleboards, inflatable boats, and more.

How fast is a Bixpy motor?

The Bixpy jet motor can get your kayak up to about 4.5 to 5 mph in normal conditions. Wind, tide, and current can all add or subtract from that speed.

How long does a Bixpy battery last?

The new Bixpy PP-378 will power a motor for approximately 12 hours at lower speeds and 8 hours at top speed. These batteries are high-quality and should run at close to full power for 3-5 years under normal conditions. The Bixpy PP-768 motor has an expected life of 10 years.

Does Bixpy have reverse?

Yes, your Bixpy motor will propel you in reverse. You can also use reverse to help slow you down versus just cutting the power. You can engage the reverse via the wristband remote control.

Is it legal to put a motor on a kayak?

Yes, it is legal to add a motor to a kayak, SUP, canoe, or other water vessel. In most states, you will be required to register your kayak before use. Failure to do so can result in big fines. If you are only using your kayak on private bodies of water you do not have to register it. If it isn't registered with the US Coast Guard, it must be registered with your state Department of Motor Vehicles.
