    Underwater Scooter FAQs


    Are underwater scooters worth it?

    Yes, underwater scooters are certainly worth it! You will be able to explore underwater areas that you may have never thought possible before. Not only that but it makes your adventures more efficient so that you burn less energy. They also can make your dives safer by giving you extra power if you need assistance for any reason. They are great for beginners up to expert divers.

    How long does the battery last on an underwater scooter?

    This will depend on the size and model of your underwater scooter. In general underwater scooters will give you between 30 minutes to 2 hours on one charge.

    How fast do underwater scooters go?

    The speed of your underwater scooter will also vary behind models, sizes, and brands. Some of the beginner models will go around 2 mph, while others may go as fast as 9 mph! The average swimmer swims at just under 2 mph, so even a small underwater scooter will be faster than normal swim speed.

    How deep can an underwater scooter go?

    Different models of underwater scooters will be able to travel to different depths. Beginner-level underwater scooters might only be able to go 15ft - 20ft deep, however the best underwater scooters can go 150ft - 200ft under water!

    Are underwater scooters safe?

    Not only are underwater scooters safe, but they also make your adventures safer when used correctly. If you have an underwater scooter you have a means to move quicker if needed and to provide you with assisted power if needed. You never know when you could use some assistance.


    Do underwater scooters float? 

    Most underwater scooters are either have neutral buoyancy or positive buoyancy. If your underwater scooter has neutral buoyancy it will neither sink nor float. If it is positive buoyancy it will float toward the surface from underwater. Underwater scooters will also have more buoyancy in saltwater than they will in freshwater.


    Can I take an underwater scooter on a plane?

     Underwater scooters must meet FAA requirements, but most do meet that standard. You will have to check the owner's manual or the product pages on our website also will tell you.

    Nautica Sea Scooters and ScubaJets are allowed on airplanes. You may be limited in the number of extra batteries that you can bring on board. Lead acid batteries have a limit of 2 uninstalled batteries for carry-on. With Lithium Ion batteries you will also be limited to 2 and you must get prior approval from the airline.
